State Sen. Kevin Kelly was elected to the State Senate in 2010 and is currently serving his first term. Sen. Kelly is Ranking Member of the Aging Committee and Insurance and Real Estate Committee and also sits on the Commerce Committee and Regulations Review Committee. He represents the towns of Monroe, Seymour, Shelton, and Stratford.

Local Leadership: Steve steered us through the chaos and aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene with daily CODE RED announcements and advice. Monroe bounced back all the stronger.

Fiscal Responsibility: Steve has kept tax increases the lowest in any two-year period over the past 14 years. Our budget passed this spring on a first vote - the first time in 17 years.

Infrastructure: Steve implemented and continues to oversee an on-going program restoring, rebuilding and paving Monroe’s roads.

Economic Development: Steve reorganized and revitalized outdated Land Use Departments making it easier for residents and businesses to grow and expand, and for new ones to come to Monroe.

Education: Our CT Mastery Test scores are among the highest in the state. The recent Board of Education survey verified that approximately 90% of Monroe parents are happy with the Monroe School System that Steve supports.
