Steve Vavrek has a heart for public service. His involvement in Monroe spans from town government positions to AYSO soccer coach and Volunteer Coordinator of Kids Kreation playground at Wolfe Park.
Born and raised in Norwalk, Steve and his wife Teri (of 26 years) moved to Monroe 21 years ago. Together they raised two daughters, Jennifer and Jessica, both recent Masuk High School graduates.
Elected Official and Volunteer Over the years, Steve has actively served in numerous elected and volunteer positions in Monroe including: Town Council Vice Chair, Board of Finance, Vice Chairman Parks and Recreation, and Trumbull-Monroe Health District. He is currently serving on the Water Pollution Control Authority and has also served as President and in various Board positions with the Monroe Jaycees, District Director CT Jaycees, AYSO Regional Commissioner, Monroe Soccer Club Coaching Director and youth soccer coach.
Steve has also served as the Moderator and Treasurer of Stepney Baptist Church and Volunteer Coordinator for the building of Kids Kreation at Wolfe Park.
Involved with Local Business Currently, Steve is serving as Vice President of Business Networking International's Monroe Synergy chapter. This networking organization is designed to help small business owners succeed through referral-based efforts. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Monroe and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.
Steve is employed with Brescome-Barton Inc. where he works closely with numerous clients throughout the area to help maximize their purchasing and marketing budgets for fine wines and adult beverages. He and Teri are also owners and publishers of Coffee News, a community newsletter designed to help local business grow through affordable advertising. The Vavrek’s edition of Coffee News is distributed in Easton, Monroe and Trumbull. At the Coffee News International Conference in 2009, Steve was given the prestigious "Good Neighbor" award for always helping to make fellow Coffee News Franchises successful.
