"Steve Vavrek has delivered for Monroe. He is the rare leader that actually accomplished what he said he would-- a budget passed on the first try that balances the needs of taxpayers and students, road repairs and infrastructure improvements, and competent, responsible town government. Steve Vavrek has proven he is a great leader for a great town."

First Selectman Elect Thanks The Citizens Of Monroe

First Selectman Elect Thanks The Citizens Of Monroe

I sincerely thank the citizens of Monroe for electing me to serve as our town’s next First Selectman. I fully recognize the magnitude of the task ahead and I am both honored and grateful to the people of Monroe for placing their trust in me and our Republican team.

Our town faces many challenges over the course of the next two years which must be addressed. And, while much needs to be done, I recognize that the economic turmoil around us has affected the lives of many of our citizens and town government must live within the means of our taxpayers.

On November 23rd I will take the oath of office and I am anxious to get started fulfilling the commitments I made to you during the campaign. During these first few days after the election I have met with the directors of Finance, Economic Development, Parks and Recreation, and other town hall staff. I have also met with our Superintendent of Schools, and several community groups.  I have begun what I hope is a process to foster consensus on how best to build a better Monroe. I look forward to continuing this process within our entire community.

As I begin my term of office please join me in extending a warm thank you to outgoing First Selectman Tom Buzi for his service and commitment to our community over the past two years. Tom has been gracious and helpful in assisting my transition and I appreciate his cooperation.

Thank you again for electing me your First Selectman. I look forward to leading the effort to build a better Monroe.

Sincerely,
Steve Vavrek
